The cultural faultline strikes again..
The neighbouring suburbs of Fortitude Valley and New Farm, I feel, how do I put it, cause a rip in the subculture laws. Two such opposing cultural suburbs don’t naturally occur, unless they are formed over a cultural fault line.
Every now and again there is cultural earthquake and its tremors are felt in subculture stereotypes. A few of these earthquakes have caused roller blading, grocery shopping mother and daughter in New Farm Coles I saw today or goth girls singing country music at kareoke or the homelessman who only wears pink.
The other day I was with a man who was wearing a Iron Maiden shirt. I was helping him do his shopping and an unsuspecting elderley came over to us to tell us how much she LOVES Iron Maiden and the next time the come to Brisbane, she’ll be there with bells on.
I love the FV fault line.
